Art:
In the Art Studio at Billie Martinez all students begin developing a foundation of artist skills that will benefit throughout their lives. These skills are creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, observation skills, fine motor skills, self expression, communication skills, and so much more. We focus our learning through the Studio Habits of Mind and work on creating, presenting, responding, and connecting in the arts. While at Billie Martinez students will be exposed to and participate in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, clay, mixed media, fibers, and so much more. As the Billie Martinez art educator, it is an absolute pleasure watching our young artists grow from kindergarten to 5th graders and beyond.
P.E.:
In PE our main focus is to move our bodies and learn healthy habits to use the rest of our lives. We will achieve these through having fun, having discussions, and doing activities related to staying healthy. The gym at Billie Martinez is a place to try new things, have fun, and learn while doing it.
Music:
In music class, we sing songs, play instruments and learn about the music in the world around us. We have fun learning about how to create our own music songs and shows. We frequently have small student performances that we video tape in the classroom and post for families to enjoy. Go to Mrs. Kelln's Kids YouTube channel to watch our music-making! Second graders will perform a live play for families in November. Fourth grade will perform an event in April. Check back later for specific dates and details.
Imagination Station:
Welcome to the Imagination Station. While in Imagination Station students explore science, engineering and technology. Student will learn robotics engineering, coding, and hands-on science experiments. Students will engage in building and programming robots, exploring the fundamentals of coding, and conducting fun, interactive science experiments. This class encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. We celebrate failures and get messy!
